The president of Azerbaijan received the president of The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding

The president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received an american rabbi, the president of US-based Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, Marc Schneier on Monday.

The chairman of US-based Foundation for Ethnic Understanding rabbi Marc Schneier mentioned that the world is following the happenings and the overall process of development in Azerbaijan with interest and that everything he saw in Baku made a deep impression on him.

He noted that his organization is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan. At the meeting it was stressed that III World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue that is passing in Baku is an important contribution to the preservation of traditions of multiculturalism in the world. It was also mentioned about its importance in terms of further rapprochement of the cultures. This event was seen as Azerbaijan’s contribution to the strengthening of international cooperation.

Azerbaijan Apprectiate day in Washington

More than 100 Muslim, Jewish and interfaith activists celebrated Azerbaijan Appreciate Day in Washington on March 16, according to the site jpupdates.com.

The event was attended by the ambassador of Azerbaijan in USA Elin Suleymanov, rabbi Marc Schneier, the president of The Fund for Ethnic understanding Seid Seid, the national director of Islamic society of North America Elsanousi Mohammed and others.

According to the report, the speakers appreciated the role of Azerbaijan in improvement of Muslim-Jewish relationship in the world. Speaking at the meeting, Rabbi Schneier called Azerbaijan “The paradigm of Muslim-Jewish coexistence in Islamic world”. Schneier expressed his gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for the friendship with Israel.

In its turn, the president of the Fund of Ethnic Understanding Seid Seid noted ”I see the ambassador from the former Soviet and now independent state – Azerbaijan, who can say with the proud that he is a Muslim and that Islam is one of the main peculiarities of the country”.
