Mevlut Cavusoglu: Turkey will not build relations with Armenia, untill this country withdraws its troops from Azerbaijani lands

Turkey will neither establish any relations nor open the borders with the aggressor country unless the Armenian troops withdraw from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey  Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed this idea at the 62nd session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul.

The minister brought to the attention of the session participants the truth about the fictional “Armenian genocide”, the occupation policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, the Khojaly genocide, and terrorist acts organized by Armenian terrorist organizations against Turkish diplomats.

Sharmazanov: If  Chavushoghlu claims about the similarity of Moscow’s and Ankara’s positions on the Karabakh issue, then Turkey reconsidered its views in favor of the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group

“If Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu declares that proposals by Russia and Turkey on Karabakh contain similarities, then Turkey has reconsidered its views by adopting the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group on the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the three Helsinki principles (the right of peoples to self-determination, the ceasefire and the territorial integrity of states),” said press secretary of the ruling Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov in the conversation with the correspondent of ArmInfo .

“However, in order to be convincing Ankara must officially declare this, unblock the Armenian-Turkish border and ratify bilateral protocols on the normalization of relations. But I think that this will not happen, since the statement of Cavusoglu is nothing more than another bluff of Turkish diplomacy, ” Sharmazanov said.

Answering the question whether he does not rule out the possibility that the similarity of Ankara’s and Moscow’s positions is due not to the change of Turkey’s approaches but to Russia, the vice speaker gave a negative response: “Russia’s position on the Karabakh settlement can be judged from the latest statement of the Russian leader – Vladimir Putin clearly stated that the Karabakh problem should be solved on the basis of mutual consessions, and there should not be winners and losers here.By the way, this is the position of all three Minsk mediators. “

It is said that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that proposals by Russia and Turkey on Karabakh contain similarities, and Ankara is ready for a role of a mediator, and that Russia, as well as Azerbaijan, wants Turkey to make a feasible contribution to resolving the problem.
