Branda Shaffer’s student edited material on “Wikipedia” to delete the link to its scandalous article in the New York Times

A student of the political science professor at the Israeli University of Haifa, a research fellow at the Georgetown University Brenda Shaffer- Elay Rutting, edited the page about B. Shaffer on Wikipedia with the aim of removing the reference to her scandalous article in the American newspaper «The New York Times» about tense Armenian-Azerbaijani relationship, in which, contrary to the contract, it was not noted that Shaffer was an adviser to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).

It is noted that the screenshot of the history of editing the Wikipedia page about Brenda Shaffer was published by journalist Robert Coalson on his Facebook page.

On September 18, Radio Liberty published an article by Robert Coalson, in which the author convicted Brenda Schaffer of concealing facts concerning her cooperation with the Azerbaijani authorities.

According to the article, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan lobbied Baku’s interests in Washington and the European Union, seeking Azerbaijan be perceived as an energy partner and trying to make people forget the authoritarian rule and the terrible situation with human rights in the country. The author points out that on September 17, when the photo of Shaffer’s business card was sent to The New York Times, the editorial office added to the article a note stating that the material does not include the fact of the professor’s cooperation with SOCAR, although Shaffer signed a contract obliging her to make a  report on a conflict of interests.
